Kurt’s wife Sheila has a virtual museum of memories in her home. As we talked to her and to her son, Dave, she toured us through Kurt’s past.
Posters, newspaper articles, all sorts of memorabilia are on every wall. Seeing photos of Kurt as a young man tied back to the play. Kurt didn’t share much with Dave about his experiences. This “lack” of sharing was common among many survivors and their children.
Whether they were protecting their kids or the painful memories were just too fresh in their minds, the sharing often seems to have jumped a generation.
