"SURVIVORS" THE PLAY

In June of 2017, Wendy Kout was commissioned by CenterStage Theatre and the Louis S. Wolk Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester to write a play to teach kids in local schools about the Holocaust. To do this, she chronicled the lives of ten actual survivors who shared their eye-witness stories of survival. Each was a child or young adult who triumphed against the odds in their own unique way. The Holocaust is a part of history, but it is the personal stories of these survivors that bring the human connection and impact to the audience.

This play is relevant in today's world as anti-Semitism hate crimes are on the rise. May it always remind us that we must speak out against hatred and fight to maintain dignity and freedom for all people.
